The Salvation Army Haiti partnered with New York based nonprofit Project Istwa to welcome 17 children ages 10-14 for one week of photovoice workshops in Jacmel. Children were taught about digital photography and photo composition and discussed how images can convey different messages. They were able to document their lives for a day and share the istwa (Haitian Creole for "story") of each of their favorite photos and display them in an exhibit for friends, family and community at the end of the week. Thanks to Project Istwa for allowing The Salvation Army Haiti to facilitate this project and to Hotel Florita (Jacmel) for lending a space to the beautiful stories and photos of these kids for the exhibit. Take a look at some of the candid photos from the week!
