Friends and members of The Salvation Army Haiti gathered on March 25, 2012 to break ground for the construction of the new complex in the Delmas 2 neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. International Salvation Army guests were joined by local government and partner representatives to celebrate both the history and the future of The Salvation Army in Haiti and specifically in Port-au-Prince. The new complex will include a church to seat 3,000 people, new kindergarten, primary and secondary school buildings for College Verena, a new clinic building and a social services building.

Major Jean Volet, HRD Construction Manager, shared three short videos that gave a three dimensional tour of the plans for the new complex.
Major Vilo Exantus, Divisional Commander (DC) of The Salvation Army Haiti, welcomed guests at the opening of the celebration.
Michel Porsenna, Vice President of The Salvation Army Haiti Advisory Board, was present to address the crowd on behalf of the board.
Salvationists, school children, community members, local, national and international leaders were present to celebrate this milestone in the reconstruction and development of The Salvation Army in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
Representatives from The Salvation Army's International Headquarters, Norway, Canada, US and Caribbean Territories were present to celebrate and reinforce their prayer and financial support of the rebuilding of the Delmas 2 compound and the programs that will be housed there.
Yahve-Nissi, an ensemble from the Port-au-Prince Central Corps (church), performed a special piece for the ground breaking celebration.
